- pint fresh strawberries, washed, trimmed, and halved
- store-bought chocolate cookie pie crust
- sugar
- cornstarch
- tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- teaspoon minced crystallized ginger
- teaspoon ground nutmeg Pinch of kosher or sea salt
- large egg yolks
- half-and-half
- ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped
- tablespoon rum extract
- teaspoon vanilla extract
- Additional strawberries for garnish
