Ingredients

  • Peeled watermelon — 1 kg
  • Packet of jelly (any flavor) — 1 pcs
  • Water — 500 ml
  • Gelatin — 2 tsp
  • Sugar — 1 tbsp

Steps

  1. Choose sweet varieties of watermelon; peel it and cut into small pieces.
  2. Wash and sterilize 2 half-liter jars thoroughly; prepare boiled lids.
  3. Fill each jar tightly with the cut watermelon, but do not over-pack.
  4. In a pot or kettle, heat 500 ml of water until hot (it is not necessary to boil for dissolving jelly, depending on package instructions).
  5. In a bowl, dissolve the packet of jelly in hot water, add 2 teaspoons of gelatin and 1 tablespoon of sugar; mix thoroughly until the gelatin and jelly are completely dissolved.
  6. Pour the hot jelly into the jars with watermelon, filling as close to the rim as possible; if necessary, gently press the pieces to add more liquid.
  7. Cover the jars with the boiled lids and place them in a large pot on a towel at the bottom; pour in warm water so that the jars are half or more submerged.
  8. Wait for the water to boil, and sterilize the jars for 10 minutes from the start of boiling.
  9. After sterilization, seal the lids in the usual way and leave the jars on the table to cool completely; then store in a cellar or refrigerator.
  10. Alternatively: you can omit the gelatin and sugar — in this case, dissolve each packet of jelly in 250 ml of water according to the package instructions.
