Pastry cream doughnuts

Pastry cream doughnuts

These doughnuts are soft fried, perfect for the Carnival period. They can be filled with vanilla pastry cream, chocolate, jam or eaten simply as they are - they will appeal to everyone! On your shopping list you should buy sugar, icing sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla, oil, butter, lemon, yeast and Italian "00 " flour. They look like tasty pancakes: round, puffy and soft. It’s a low-cost, low-difficulty recipe: just make the leavened dough, spice it with lemon, cut out some circles from the dough and fry in hot oil. As a final touch you can sprinkle them with icing sugar. If you prefer you can use some coloured sugar grains - there are no limits to your artistic imagination! Enjoy them at breakfast where they make a perfect contribution to the start of the day, or as a great snack. Lovely with freshly squeezed fruit juice, or simply with a cup of tea.
