The Jet Fuel is a high-alcohol tropical cocktail whose defining ingredient - 151-proof rum, bottled at 75.5% ABV - gives it both its name and its reputation. 151-proof rum has a specific and fascinating place in cocktail history: it was originally developed not as a sipping spirit but as a functional ingredient, used in tiki cocktails and flaming drinks throughout the mid-20th century because its extreme alcohol content made it highly flammable and capable of being ignited for theatrical presentations.
